Parent Rental Charge Codes

Modified on Wed, Jan 17 at 2:56 PM

Creating child charge codes is a great way to automate the rental contract creation process, as well as ensuring important charges aren't being missed, avoiding missed revenue.

There are two methods for calculating child charge code amounts - percentage or fixed. A percentage will calculate the total based on the percentage of the parent code. The fixed amount will always be charged at the same amount, regardless of the parent code amount.

Here are a few examples on how Parent - Child Charge Code relationships work:

Example 1:

  • The machine rental parent code and 'Damage Waiver' child charge code has been created. The company wants to automatically apply the damage waiver to all machine rentals at a 10% rate of the machine rental rate. When the user adds the machine rental rate at $500, the damage waiver code will automatically be applied for $50.

Example 2:

  • The machine rental parent code and 'Pickup Charge' child charge code has been created. The company wants to automatically apply the pickup charge to all machine rentals at a fixed amount of $1,000. When the user adds the machine rental rate, the pickup charge code will automatically be applied for $1,000, regardless of the machine rental rate.
